Finding our Tribe!

Gay, Lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and Queer young people are the only minority that must find their own tribe. Somewhere, usually when we are quite young, we begin to feel isolated, different, alien, and alone.These Feelings are sometimes described as the beginning of our "coming out" process. These pages exist to help you in your quest. Your tribe, your community, your extended family, are here and waiting. You are Not Alone!

Our Tribe has its history and its own culture.  To learn more about the big GLBTQ  picture, our history and culture, we recommend you visit http://www.glbtq.com/ , an online encyclopedia of GLBTQ culture, history, sociology, and biography.  Find out what our Tribal Elders have been up to and how they have been creating a safer world for us all, then join us in creating modern history, not only here in Southern California, but in every community where we live.

We have created this forum for the sharing and exchange of information, experiences, and camaraderie, all to build a stronger community.

You are welcome to browse our site, but we invite you to create your own Log-in and become a full participant in our Q-munity. This is an interactive web site and it works best when you are a co-author and a co-participant

Our Website is divided into several sections:

• The Young & Queer section is for 13 to 20 year-old GLBTQ youth.  Go here for info about coming out, talking to your family, ways to be safe, resources, and upcoming events.
• The Info For Parents section is where parents can inform themselves on what it means to be a GLBTQ youth and find information to help their GLBTQ children at home, in school, and in the community.
• Our Educator & School section contains information and resources to help teachers and administrators ensure that their schools are safe and supportive environments for GLBTQ youth.
• Learn how to help in our Donors & Volunteers section, including monetary, material, and service contributions and working with our youth.
• Find out more about RPYA's leadership and governance in the Administration & Oversight section, including getting to know our Governing Board members and community linkages.
• Explore our Qmunity web links to find other GLBTQ youth groups; supportive national, state, and local organizations; businesses; faith-based groups; and universities and colleges.

Additionally we have a Qmunity Calendar, a document library, health and legal issues pages, and a glossary of commonly used language.  This website has recently gone through many changes, so some areas are still being worked on.
